VINTAGE
MY STORY The Donyale Dress is a bespoke early 1970s wedding gown with dramatic bell sleeves. It features a high neckline decorated in appliquéd flowers, a pleated bodice with a chevron empire waist, a low, draped back and a metal zipper. The sleeves are tight but turn into circular bell sleeves at the cuffs with 24" of sweep. The Donyale Dress is named after Donyale Luna, the first African American cover girl. Luna embodied elegance, simplicity and striking beauty - we can see her walking down the isle in a dress like this!
